So...this happened.....
Yeah- I didn't realise that I'd forgotten to publish this once I was done. But here it is anyway even if it is more than a little late. Here's the booktalk for Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters.
It's not easy being a half-blood these days. Even a simple game of dodge ball becomes a death against a ugly gang of cannibal giants- and that was only the beginning.
Now Camp Half-Blood is under attack and, unless I can get my hands on the Golden Fleece, the whole camp will be invaded by monsters. Big ones..."
Unfortunately I read this a while ago... so I don't remember too much or every detail- oops. So this'll be way shorter than normal...sorry!
So I did enjoy this book but at some points it felt too much like the first book ( I'll talk more about this later). For me, this was a bit of a drawback but the story was still great and I especially loved seeing the characters develop.
A 88% for me- a little higher than the first book since I did still really enjoy it.
For me,parts of it felt way too similar to the first book, with scenes just being in different places with different characters but the overall feel was the same. I'm not really too sure how to describe it but it just felt a little off.
Okay so that's it for the non-spoilery section. If you haven't read the book come back once you have so we can DISCUSS!
*Warning- Spoilers for Sea of Monsters ahead*
Okay so lets just talk about favourite scenes here. I LOVED the Siren's scene plus where both Annabeth and Percy and Annabeth are under the water and where Percy harness his power.
I really enjoyed the scene with Hermes, Martha and George- the dialogue is hilarious so I'm hoping to see him pop up in the next few books.
As for other characters, it was fun to see new ones like Tyson and I loved the chariot race at the end!
So the whole thing with Thalia. Earlier in the book Annabeth had said that Percy and Thalia would either be best friends or worst enemies given how similar their personalities were. Personally I think they'll have a sorta love/hate thing (as in friendship-wise) because A- best friends would be too easy and B- Percybeth- I mean come on!
I realise that this is RIDICULOUSLY short in comparison to my other booktalks but I'm become seriously backlogged as far as booktalks go. Sorry about that :/
Anyways, more booktalks coming soon
Bye for now,
Amber xxx
